Like wine, there are thousands of varieties of tea produced throughout the world. We have sipped thousands of cups, and blended some of our own, to bring you some of the most unique blends and finest tea available from around the world.
All tea is derived from the Camellia Sinensis plant, a native of Southeast Asia. The difference between black and green tea lies in the processing method. Green tea leaves are dried immediately after picking, whereas black tea is partially dried and then undergo a full oxidation (usually called fermentation). These processes, in combination with the local conditions in the various tea-growing regions of the world, determine a tea's characteristics.

Personalized Tea
We know that what tea you serve is an extension of your establishment's identity and an aspect of its reputation. To that end, we strive to provide you with the best teas for your budget and offerings on your menu. By the same token, our concept of private labeling extends far beyond merely printing your name on a tin of tea.
Our goal is to help you create a product that reflects your identity, and that recalls a stay with you each time a guest sips your tea. We do this by tying the tea to special features of your establishment and region which draw your guests to you in the first place, and recall with pleasure upon their return home. Such a product is an excellent representative for you, an ideal gift item, and an "interactive memento" par excellence! Our private label tea process is simple:
Product & Label: |
We work with you to select the best product offering to match your unique needs: selecting the specific tea blend, presentation, packaging and label text. This typically takes a few days. |
Ordering: |
We outline the various options and offer a quote that typically includes a few options for you to choose and order from. This typically takes a few days. |
Review: |
Upon receiving your order and artwork we design a prototype, and send it for your review and approval. This typically takes 2 weeks. |
Production: |
Upon approval we commence production and ship you your product. Typical production time is 2 weeks. |
There is no charge for setup, we have low minimums, and everything is shipped directly from our plant in Hatfield, Massachusetts. We make it possible! Offer personalized tea or custom label tea for your teahouse, restaurant, store, as a wedding favor and corporate gift, and for bridal showers, baby showers, and large tea parties. Private Label Tea / Custom Label Loose Tea 1. Review the private label and wholesale price list.
2. If you see any tea that you are interested in, let us know, and we’ll be happy to send you samples.
3. Let us know what your timeframe is. Generally, the entire process can take 3-4 weeks, depending on the complexity of your label, the size of your order, and our production schedule.
4. Send us your logo or artwork. We can incorporate your logo onto the label, or you can design the label yourself. In either case, we will need to receive the logo/artwork via e-mail in JPG format.
Though it is not required, you may consider creating your own names/descriptions for the tea. This is not necessary, but helps you to differentiate your tea and establish your own brand
If you design the label yourself, keep the following label sizes in mind:
Tea Tin Labels:
• 1 oz – .75” x 9.5”
• 2 oz – 3.06 inches x 1.81 inches
• 4 oz – 3.75 inches x 2.44 inches
Tea Foil Bag Labels:
• .4 oz – 3.06 inches x 1.81 inches
• 3.5 oz & 5.5 oz – 4 inches x 3.5 inches
All labels are required to include:
• Net weight
• Your contact information – website, phone number (optional), etc.
• The phrase “Packed by weight.” The volume of each tea blend is different and so 2 oz. of one tea will the fill the tin differently than 2 oz. of another tea.
Each tin has two labels, front and back, and is shrink-wrapped to prevent tampering, while also ensuring that the tins stay air-tight to maintain the integrity of the tea.
5. Upon receipt of your logo/artwork, we will e-mail a proof. Let us know if you have any changes.
6. Send your label approval and place your order.
7. After receipt of the invoice, fax a signed copy to 413-375-3590. Payment may be submitted with the invoice, or over the telephone. All first orders require prepayment via credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. We can invoice subsequent orders, given a completed and acceptable credit application.
8. Your order will be processed and shipped. Please allow 2-7 days for shipping, depending on order size and destination.
9. For reorders, please allow two weeks for delivery.

About Tea
Tea has an extraordinarily colorful history, world-wide sources, and amazingly varied tastes and traditions. Variations in the manufacture account for the major types of tea. Among them, black, oolong, green and white teas constitute a range of tastes as broad as red, white , and rose wines.
All black, oolong, green, and white tea comes from the same plant, the Camellia Sinensis. Only the young, top two leaves and the unopened leaf bud of this plant are what tea is comprised of. Allowed to grow on its own accord, the tea plant, a member of the evergreen family, will reach heights of 60 feet. As a tea bush it is pruned to heights of no more than 3-5 feet, and can produce tea for over a hundred years. Up to 80,000 hand-plucked shoots are needed to produce one pound of our loose leaf tea.
The differences between the types of tea result from variations in the processing of the leaves after they are harvested. The variations are not only in flavor and potency, but caffeine levels and health benefits as well.
The caffeine level for the different types of teas are as follows (coffee has 60-180 milligrams per cup):
Black tea: 40-110 milligrams
Green tea: 8-30 milligrams
White tea: 1-10 milligrams
Oolong tea: 18-55 milligrams
Herbal and Fruit tea: 0 milligrams
Black
Loose Tea
Black tea is full flavored and can range from flowery to fruity, nutty and spicy. With about a third less caffeine than a prepared cup of coffee, they are excellent eye-openers, comforting afternoon teas, and soothing night teas - depending on the variety and how long they are steeped. Here you will find a unique and appealing selection of black tea.
Green
Loose Tea
Green tea is primarily produced in China and Japan. It is milder and more delicate in flavor than black tea, and is often described as having a fresh, vegetative quality. Rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, green tea is known for its health benefits. It is also relatively low in caffeine (almost two thirds less than coffee). Our fine green teas are sure to delight and all are good for multiple infusion yielding different flavors and nuances in subsequent cups.
Herbal
Loose Tea and Fruit Tea
Herbal tea and fruit tea are made from flowers, seeds, bark and the fruit of various plants. Since they do not contain leaves from the Camellia Sinensis, they are naturally caffeine free. Our herbal and fruit infusions are perfect for young and old, tasty hot and cold, and suitable any time of the day.
The production of Loose Black Tea
Black teas, during the production process, undergoes a full oxidation, which causes the leaves to turn black and gives them their characteristic flavor. After picking, their green leaves are spread out on tiers of racks to wither for about 12 to 18 hours. During the long wither process, the leaves lose most of their moisture, becoming soft and pliable so that they can be rolled. During the rolling, the membranes of the leaves are broken, allowing their juices and essential oils that give the tea its aroma to develop. After rolling, the leaves are brought into large, cool, humid rooms where they are spread in layers to oxidize. During the oxidation process, the leaf color darkens, and initially bitter juices mellow. The characteristic flavors of black tea - ranging from flowery to fruity, nutty and spicy begin to emerge. The oxidation process must be stopped at the point where the aroma and flavor have fully developed. This is done by firing the leaves in large ovens. The flavorful juices dry on the surface of the leaves and remain relatively stable until exposed to boiling water during infusion.
The production of Loose Green Tea
The intent during the production of green tea is to preserve the healthy, natural and active substances of the fresh leaves so they may be released into the cup at the time of infusion. After picking, the green leaves are spread out to wither. Once they have become soft and pliable, they are traditionally pan-fried in woks. This prevents the leaves form oxidizing as it occurs during the production of black tea. The subsequent rolling gives the leaves their style - twisted, curly or balled. Rolling also helps to regulate the release of the natural substances and flavor during the steeping. In the final step, the leaves are dried by firing, and the natural fragrances and flavors are stabilized. The resulting green teas are high in nutrients and minerals; their health benefits are the subject of a great number of medical studies.
The production of Loose Herbal Tea and Fruit Tea
Not actually a tea because it isn't derived from the Camellia Sinensis plant, herbal tea is caffeine free and is typically made from flowers, fruits, herbs, roots, bark, and seeds. Herbal tea is often times used for medicinal purposes. However, with a variety of botanical mélanges to suit almost every taste, herbal tea is most often consumed simply for pleasure and relaxation.
How to Plan a Tea Party
When thinking about tea parties, do you find yourself overwhelmed with thoughts of the British gentry, scenes from Alice in Wonderland, Victorian decor, blue haired ladies and pinky fingers stuck up in the air? If so, you're both right and wrong. You're right because as the tradition of "Afternoon" Tea has developed over time, it has become an elegant affair. You're wrong because "High" Tea was often enjoyed by the British working class as their evening supper, with heartier fare than the tea sandwiches and scones that are now associated with tea time.
As the custom has evolved, tea time is usually scheduled from mid to late afternoon. It's a between meal snack that is a lot more elegant than a bag of chips from the vending machine. It needn't be extremely fussy, although the meal often includes savory, bite size sandwiches, scones or biscuits, and sweets (along with a good pot of tea, of course!) Both men and women enjoy afternoon tea in England, and it's often used as a function for entertaining business clients.
An Afternoon Tea Party is suitable for many celebrations. When you'd like to host a party that isn't as involved as a dinner party, a tea party can be the answer. It's an ideal format for a bridal or baby shower, a retirement party, a birthday celebration, or time to catch up with good friends. The food is prepared before your guests arrive, and is either presented buffet style, or by passing plates of goodies at the table. The only thing you need to serve is the tea itself, leaving you plenty of time to relax and enjoy your guests. Your guest list can include dozens of people or only one good friend with whom you'd like to share an intimate conversation. It can be a very formal affair as you'll find at some of the more elegant hotels, or it can be as casual as a pot of tea and some cookies.
Whatever your reason for hosting your next tea party, enjoy a cup for me!
Tea Time Tables
In many parts of the world, tea time is an honored tradition of refinement and elegance. When you're planning a tea party -- whether for a shower, graduation, birthday, or just for fun -- adorn your table with your best china, silver, and linens. These add polish and grace to the occasion, and in our "paper cup" world they remind us fondly of earlier times.
